Clinical Pathways Privacy Policy
Boston Children's Hospital (Boston Children’s) takes your privacy very seriously and we are conscientious about how we protect your information. This Privacy Policy (or Policy) covers our treatment of your information that we gather when you are accessing or using the Clinical Pathways Application (or Pathways). In this Policy we explain the following about your data:
- collection & storage,
- security,
- sharing,
- choices,
- notifications,
- limitations, and
- changes and questions.
By using Pathways, you agree to follow the obligations outlined in this Policy. You also consent that we collect, use, and share your information in the ways described below.
1. COLLECTION & STORAGE.
The information that you manually enter into Pathways (login credentials) will be tracked and stored. We may use additional information to understand, customize and improve your user experience. The following is the technical information we automatically collect:
- operating system and device,
- geographic location,
- self-designated user role,
- content viewed, downloaded and features used, and
- dates and times of your interactions.
We use third party tracking services (such as Google Analytics) to analyze this information in order to help us understand how users interact with Pathways. This information can be linked to you and the data you provide.
2. SECURITY.
Information we collect through Pathways is encrypted and it is very difficult for anyone outside of Boston Children's to view your information. We try to protect your privacy, but we cannot guarantee complete confidentiality. Unauthorized entry or use, hardware or software failure, and other factors, may compromise information security. You should be aware that the laws in the United States may not protect your privacy to the same extent as the laws in the country from which you have transmitted your data.
3. SHARING.
We will only release your data if we are authorized by you or when compelled by a legal order. Your information will not be shared or sold for advertising purposes. Information being collected is to understand the utilization of the pathways and the demographics of the user base. We are not using the information to “personalize” the pathways. Please contact us at pathways@childrens.harvard.edu if you have any questions about viewing, updating or deleting your information.
4. CHOICES.
You may not to use Pathways. You may stop all collection of information at any time by uninstalling Pathways. We will retain all of your previously collected information unless if you choose to have it deleted (you may do so by submitting a request to pathways@childrens.harvard.edu. While data can be deleted locally from our database, we cannot control data on Google Analytics or other potential future third party services.
5. NOTIFICATIONS
We may send you push notifications. These are alerts or messages that are sent to your phone when Pathways is not open or in use. They can be reminders, or ask you to take certain actions. You can choose to disable notifications.
6. LIMITATIONS.
When you access Pathways, you receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-assignable license (without the right to sublicense) to install and use solely for your personal, non-commercial use. By downloading and using Pathways, you agree that you will not do anything to interfere with or disrupt its operation and will only provide accurate and current information, and will not impersonate anyone else. You further agree to comply with all applicable laws and will not transmit content that you do not have the right to transmit or that infringes the rights of any party. You understand that Pathways may be subject to patent, copyright, trademark and other intellectual property protection and that the ownership of software and other intellectual property related to Pathways, as well the goodwill associated therewith, remains with Boston Children's or its licensors. You agree that all content is the sole property of Boston Children's.
7. CHANGES & QUESTIONS.
This Policy is effective upon the creation of your account and we may periodically amend it with or without providing you notice. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the topics addressed in this Policy, please contact pathways@childrens.harvard.edu. This Policy shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Massachusetts as further provided in the Terms and Conditions.
